Windows Server 2022 Install Process
This page covers how to install Windows Server 2022. The process is very similar to previous versions of Windows Server as well.
Instructions
1. Boot to the Windows Server Installer ISO
This should be the first screen you'll end up on.
2. Choose Language, Time & Currency, and Keyboard Layout
3. Press Install Now
4. Enter Product Key
In this step you'll need to enter your product key or hit "I don't have a product key". You can always enter a product key after installation.
5. Choose OS Version
You should choose an option you have a license for, if you entered a product key in the previous step, these options may be limited to what your product key allows. We suggest choosing an option with Desktop Experience.
If you do not choose an option with (Desktop Experience), you won't have a desktop environment, you'll be limited to a Powershell/CMD window.
6. Review Software Licensing Terms
If you want to proceed, you'll need to accept Microsoft's terms by checking the box and pressing Next.
7. Choose the Option for a Custom Install
In this guide we're covering a fresh install of Windows Server, so we're going to choose the Custom: Install Microsoft Server Operating System Only (Advanced) option.
8. Choose Hard Drive for OS Installation
If the drive had something on it previously, you may want to select the drive and hit the Delete option, this would delete any existing data on the disk.
9. Wait for Install to Finish
It will reboot automatically when done.
10. Set Password for Administrator Account
